In this task, students work in groups as they take on the role of a building company tendering to the local council for the contract to build a small housing estate.

After designing and constructing a model of their proposed plans, students then present them to a panel.

Enterprising Houses helps young people work creatively as a team using communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Through this activity young people can:

  • Develop awareness of decision-making
  • Practice communication and teamwork skills
  • Understand the steps necessary to complete a project on time
  • Recognise, develop and apply their skills for enterprise and employability
  • Learn about the way business enterprises operate
