Working in groups, students pose as rival party planning companies trying to win the contract to plan a school's prom.

They must first make a plan for the event, taking into account their budget and adhering to certain criteria set by their brief.

One of the key themes in this activity is teamwork. In order to complete the project successfully all members of the team must work closely together as individual responsibilities are very closely linked.

Through this activity young people can:

  • Develop awareness of decision making
  • Practice communication and teamwork skills
  • Understand the steps necessary to complete a project on time and on a budget
  • Recognise, develop and apply their skills for enterprise and employability
  • Engage ideas, challenges and applications from the business world
